Carolina was born in Bogota, Colombia and spent her childhood between the city and the wild mountains of Idaho. The first birth she attended was that of her nephew when she was 17yrs old. That home water birth opened her world to what she knew would be her path. After much travel and work in service to others, including attending the birth of her niece, she moved to El Paso, TX to pursue formal training in midwifery at the age of 30.

Carolina attended Maternidad La Luz Midwifery School and soon began practicing her craft in 2013. She then started her own homebirth practice in Tucson, AZ and served families in the Sonoran Desert for 3 years. In 2018 she returned to El Paso to teach and work as staff midwife at Maternidad La Luz. As a native Spanish speaking midwife, Carolina has devoted the last 7 years to serving the communities of the border region. As a midwife, Carolina hopes to change the future one birth at a time with the firm belief that how we are born matters, as it affects how we treat each other and our home.
