Shayla Jaynes, Midwifry Assistant/ Student Midwife
Hi I'm Shayla.
As a child I have always been enamoured with pregnancy. I am a super part-time licensed practicing optometrist but, very quickly realized I missed my calling as a midwife during my first pregnancy in 2014. Shortly after having my son, while doing doula work I was on the path to becoming a midwife when I found out I was pregnant with twins. Although it was a shock, I was excited to see my midwife again. The care I received from my midwife was so nurturing and most importantly made me feel safe and I believe everyone should be afforded the opportunity of midwifery care.
I began assisting Samm at births in early 2021 and really enjoy connecting with clients. I am grateful to also be present for the journey of repeat clients. You may also see my face at your prenatal and postpartum visits. I have both a love and firm respect for the birth process and realize it is a privilege to be in the room during one of the most intimate and sacred times that a family can have.
In addition to my 3 children, I have been married to my loving and supportive husband for almost 15 years. I adore all animals (my husband says I should have been a veterinarian) and will care for your fur babies as much as I care for you!
I offer services for CPR certification as I am a certified American Heart Association instructor for adult/child/infant CPR, and this coming January I look forward to enrolling in a midwifery program to pursue my CPM.
